Introduction to Istanbul Nightlife by Locals
Istanbul is a city that literally never sleeps and is probably x10 times larger than Manhattan Island. That is why Istanbul Nightlife doesn’t have one center but multiple centers with different lifestyles.
This also has an effect on the Istanbul nightlife scene as well. When you look at the venues in Istanbul nightlife, the offerings change based on their location. When you start with Istiklal street, the clubs and bars close to Taksim square are cheaper and less formal. In comparison to the venues by the end of Istiklal street near Asmali Mescit. From the beginning of Istiklal Street, where Taksim Square is, to the end even the Istanbul Nightlife scene changes.

Different Neighborhoods in Istanbul Nightlife have different rules for their venues.
Istanbul has different attractions in each neighborhood.
This gap even is much more visible, when you take your rotation to Cihangir. It is a neighborhood just walking distance from Taksim Square. Istanbul Nightlife in Cihangir is more about cocktails rather than clubs. Even so, house parties in Cihangir are a much more popular part of Istanbul Nightlife. To which you need to be invited rather than walk in.
In another instance, clubs in the Bosphorus line such as venues in Kurucesme or Ortakoy are a whole different story. Istanbul Nightlife’s clubbing scene is huge in the Bosphorus cost. Clubs in Ortakoy or Kurucesme have a restricted dress code. Moreover, you will need a reservation with a high possibility. In addition, if you are a high number of men, then you will face some difficulties to enter.
In a different approach to Istanbul Nightlife in Etiler, another neighborhood just above Ortakoy things get interesting. The nightlife in this area is based on the powerplay. Either you got to reserve months ahead, or you need to know the right people to get you a reservation. In contrast, it would be hard to enter and also these venues are extremely packed.

On the European side, Ortaköy, Bebek, Nişantaşi, Sisli, and Etiler; Taksim, Istiklal Caddesi, Asmalmescit, Nevizade Street, Tunnel line, and Galata in the Beyoglu district; Beşiktaş Bazaar and Beach in the Beşiktaş district.

If the weather is nice, the party is on the street in the Asmali Mescid neighborhood. As a local, this is my favorite local stop for Istanbul Nightlife. It’s a more relaxed environment. T-shirts and hoodies are ok. Our favorite place is Kulp in this area.
On the Anatolian side, the districts and centers with the liveliest and most vibrant nightlife in Istanbul are Kadköy, Kadköy Center, Iskele Street, Bahariye Street, Kadife Street, and Caddebostan Bars Street.
Taksim’s Istiklal Street offers 24-hour entertainment and nightlife. Everything from buzzing cafe bars to fine dining establishments, live music bars to discos, and taverns to taverns.
Between Ortaköy and Bebek are seaside bars and eateries popular. These spots are more popular with the upper class; Etiler is home to live Turkish music and clubs.
The most well-known locations for traditional pubs and taverns are in the Aksaray-Beyazit district. For more tourist attractions check Sulukule, Kumkapi, and Istiklal Caddesi.

One local favorite is Nardis Jazz Club, located in the heart of the city’s Beyoğlu district. This intimate venue offers live jazz music every night and attracts a diverse crowd of locals and tourists alike. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, and the musicians who perform here are top-notch.
